H O M E | Women's Networks: Athens |
Announcing the launch of the H O M E | Women's Networks website documenting a workshop, facilitated by Arzu Ozkal and Claudia Costa Pederson, around the notion of "Home" in our era, with a focus on contemporary Greece.
The workshop extends research initiated during ISEA Istanbul 2011. There, a number of Turkish women active in media convened to facilitate a "gün" (meaning "day" in English) as the basis of a new kind of cultural exchange taking into consideration both social and technological networks.
In Athens, the participants (Olga Alexopoulou, Natalia-Rozalia Avlona, Hera Buyuktasciyan, Elena Demetria Chantzis, Thalia Chrousos, Melania Damianou, Nina Franco, Eri Koraka, Chara Loka, Kalina Ntampiza, Deniz Senol Sert and Polina Zioga) worked together to create an online publication as a continuation of this cultural exchange.
The workshop took place at "Frown" in Athens, within the framework of "Home/s", an exhibition of ArtUP! Media Art in Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey, at the Benaki Museum in October 2013, curated by Daphne Dragona and Katerina Gkoutziouli and organised by Goethe-Institut Athen.

Synopsis
“I constantly migrate, and among many places, and always to and fro.
I do it alone, although many people act like me…”
"Where Am I at Home?" is an intertext and work of video art, written, directed and produced by Polina Zioga, based on Agnes Heller’s original essay "Where Are We at Home?" (1995).
The title and question of the work implicates our sense of belonging, in terms of space, time, our spiritual and cultural heritage, but also in terms of politics and the constitutional democracy.
The artist re-reads and re-writes the essays’ arguments, appropriating the words, the phrases and the meanings. She speaks of herself and through herself for what can be commonly felt, understood and experienced. Either being identified as a geographical promiscuous, revealing a homeliness/loneliness, or resorting to the absolute spirit, in practice and by belief, she concludes to what remains a collective quest of belonging - democracy as the absolute present. |

Ανακοίνωση της ιστοσελίδας H O M E | Women's Networks, που καταγράφει το εργαστήριο, που συντόνισαν η Arzu Ozkal και η Claudia Costa Pederson γύρω από την έννοια του "Σπιτιού" στην εποχή μας, με επικέντρωση στην σύγχρονη Ελλάδα.
Το εργαστήριο επεκτείνει έρευνα που ξεκίνησε κατά τη διάρκεια του ISEA Istanbul 2011. Εκεί, γυναίκες της Τουρκίας, ενεργές στον χώρο των media μαζεύτηκαν για να δημιουργήσουν ένα "gün" (που σημαίνει "ημέρα" στα Ελληνικά), ως την βάση μιας νέας μορφής πολιτισμικής ανταλλαγής, λαμβάνοντας υπόψιν τόσο τα κοινωνικά όσο και τα τεχνολογικά δίκτυα.
Στην Αθήνα, οι συμμετέχουσες (Όλγα Αλεξοπούλου, Ναταλία-Ροζαλία Αυλώνα, Hera Buyuktasciyan, Έλενα Δήμητρα Χαντζή, Thalia Chrousos, Μελανία Δαμιανού, Nina Franco, Έρη Κόρακα, Χαρά Λόκα, Καλίνα Νταμπίζα, Deniz Senol Sert και Πωλίνα Ζιώγα) δούλεψαν μαζί, για να δημιουργήσουν μια διαδικτακή έκδοση ως συνέχεια αυτής της πολιτισμικής ανταλλαγής.
Το workshop έλαβε χώρα στο "Frown" στην Αθήνα, στο πλαίσιο του "Home/s", μια έκθεση του ArtUP! Media Art in Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey, στο Μουσείο Μπενάκη τον Οκτώβριο του 2013, σε επιμέλεια της Δάφνης Δραγώνα και της Κατερίνας Γκουτζιούλη και διοργάνωση του Goethe-Institut Athen.

Το "Where Am I at Home?" είναι ένα διακείμενο και έργο βιντεοτέχνης της Πωλίνας Ζιώγα, βασισμένο στην πρωτότυπη πραγματεία της Agnes Heller "Where Are We at Home?" (1995).
Ο τίτλος και το ερώτημα του έργου εμπλέκει την αίσθηση του ανήκειν, μέσα από μια θεώρηση του χώρου, του χρόνου, της πνευματικής και πολιτιστικής μας κληρονομιάς, αλλά και της πολιτικής και της συνταγματικής δημοκρατίας.
Η καλλιτέχνης ξανα-διαβάζει και ξανα-γράφει τα επιχειρήματα της πραγματείας, οικειοποιούμενη τις λέξεις, τις φράσεις και τα νοήματα. Μιλάει για τον εαυτό της και μέσα από τον εαυτό της για αυτό που μπορεί να γίνει κοινώς αισθητό, να κατανοηθεί και να βιωθεί. Είτε προσδιοριζόμενη ως γεωγραφικά πολυγαμική, αποκαλύπτοντας μια μοναξιά, είτε καταφεύγοντας στο απόλυτο πνεύμα, στην πράξη και εκ πεποιθήσεως, καταλήγει σε αυτό που παραμένει μια συλλογική αναζήτηση του ανήκειν - η δημοκρατία ως το απόλυτο παρόν. |
