'The Last Newspaper' will be a hybrid exhibition exploring how artists approach the news and how information is produced, managed, recorded, re-ordered, and disseminated. Alongside the exhibition, a number of partner organisations will use on-site offices to present their research and stage public dialogues, opening up the galleries as spaces of intellectual production as well as display. 'THE LAST POST' / 'THE LAST GAZETTE' / 'THE LAST REGISTER'... will be an evolving-titled twelve-page free weekly newspaper and an incremental exhibition catalogue edited by Latitudes and produced and disseminated from the museum on a weekly basis for 10 weeks.
In part a programming and discussion space in itself, 'THE LAST POST' / 'THE LAST GAZETTE'... will be a document in formation companioning 'The Last Newspaper’s exhibition and events, and a critical reflection on the wider agency of art and artists with respect to the news. It is being conceived by a specially-assembled editorial team and contributors who are giving their time and skills pro bono. The published record of the enterprise will be bound at the conclusion to form a surrogate catalogue. (+ info...)

In response to Midway Contemporary ArtLibrary’s holdings of museum catalogues and books from publishing houses in Barcelona, Latitudes has assembled a counter-accession of around 50 self- and micro-published books and paper editions produced since 2005 by artists, designers, and curators based in Catalonia. The publications will be displayed at Midway's Library throughout October–November 2010 before being absorbed into the library holdings. In addition to the book acquisition, Latitudes invited Barcelona-based artists Mariona Moncunill, Gabriel Pericàs, Mireia C. Saladrigues and Oriol Vilanova to intervene in the library through a series of bookmarks which will be inserted into undisclosed publications throughout the library for unsuspecting readers to encounter.
Christina Hemauer and Roman Keller have investigated the concept of energy for several years. One of their main areas of interest is the history of oil and its competing alternatives, notably solar energy. Often involving historical research, remembrance, performance and film, their projects focus in particular on the politics of petroleum, energy crises, and the pursuit of new technology.
The exhibition will be the most comprehensive presentation of the duo's work to date. (+ info...)
Latitudes has contributed with texts on Jordi Mitjà, Jorge Satorre and Wilfredo Prieto for the exhibition catalogue 'Before everything'. The exhibition, curated by Aimar Arriola and Manuela Moscoso, showcases the work of 56 artists 'as an attempt to delve into current artistic production from Spain'.
