Autumn is in the Air!

It has been a very productive summer for East Bay Green Tours. We've created a vibrantly informative new website (www.ebgt.org) and have expanded our offerings to meet the needs of schools, businesses and civic groups looking for sustainable solutions for our future. This Fall we're set to continue shining the spotlight on the inspiring pioneers in our backyard and beyond!

One of the aspects of our tours that we've gotten great feedback on is the extraordinary connection that is possible through exploring innovative places. Nothing enlivens the senses like the unexpected that arises from making a choice to explore uncharted territory.

Speaking of uncharted territory... I unexpectedly spent most of this summer caring for my `elderly father on the Alabama Gulf Coast. However, while traversing this difficult part of life's path, I had the wonderful privilege of experiencing the natural abundance of this sub-tropical zone each morning on my walk at a nearby nature preserve after spending the night at the hospital. The thick, close muggy southern summer was literally at my doorstep. Birds, insects, spiders, huge trees, lush plants and beaches like powdered sugar have been my tour guides for the past two months and help keep me grounded through a difficult time.

Join us for one or more of the many events we offer so we can enjoy unexpected discoveries together!

Warm wishes,

Marissa and the EBGT Team

EVERY GREAT BUSINESS NEEDS A GREAT STOREFRONT!

GREEN TECH ACADEMY OPENS IN OAKLAND

East Bay Green Tours was invited by Senator Loni Hancock to the newly opening Green Tech Academy in Oakland. A tour down the road for their students is in the works!

Green Tech–like Health, Engineering, Computers, and Biotech- is one of five California Partnership Academies run out of Oakland Tech. This school is one of 30 similar schools in the state and will receive funding as a result of the efforts of Senator Hancock. The academy model is generally described as “a school-within-a-school,” and one version of the idea that smaller learning communities foster more confident and excited learners. Read More about this exciting development in an article by Oakland North!
