This is a Back to Basic #3 plan. Our BTB series offers several traditional log home designs with a few changes to our package which allow us to sell them at a fantastic price. From 1000 to 2400 square feet, they are the perfect choice for someone looking for a modestly priced log home.

Ext.Front.lowres

This Homesteader design features a "gambrel" roof design which allows for maximum headroom on the second floor.

Trivia Question: We have been visited recently by the Northern Hemisphere polar vortex. Where does is usually reside? (See the answer below.)

Photo of 30 Year old Gastineau Log Home! We just received this photo of a Homesteader design from the Long's here in MO. They said "We love our home. It’s going on 30 years old, but looks great."

Side view w walkout

This is a Therma Log Home built on Table Rock Lake in southwestern MO. It is a modified Seven Gables plan. The master bedroom, living room, kitchen and office all have doors onto the expansive deck and the view of the water. They used Oak Smart Match siding on the interior of all the living spaces for it appears to be a solid log home!

This custom Oak log home features three large bedrooms, and office, a gourmet kitchen, a play/pool table room upstairs, lots of windows and lots and lots of porches! Click on the photo to see the floor plan.

Gastineau Log Home on Quaker Website: The standard window we provide in our log home packages is Quaker's Brighton window series. It is a wood window (with lots of wood in the frame for energy efficiency and structural strength) that has an aluminum clad exterior for no painting and not maintenance. If you would like more information on the windows, you can click here.

hinged door parts diagram12

Impress your friends and family with your knowledge of door parts! This diagram shows the names of the different components that make up a door. Do you know what "hand" of door this diagram shows? Right hand or left hand? Answer at the bottom of this newsletter.

Chandler Inside.lowres

This shows a gable where the customer has opted for drywall in the gable end rather than wood. This is the view from the living room up into the loft from the Dakota design. Look at that gorgeous open beam floor system!

Gastineau Log Home website redesign: I am asking for your help. We are starting a total revision to our web site. I would really, really appreciate your input. What would you like to see added? What would you like to see more of? What don't you care about? Please email me, Lynn Gastineau, with your thoughts. I would appreciate it very much!

This is one of the towns in Missouri that are not pronounced the way they look...

How do you pronounce Gastineau? …if I had a quarter for every time someone has asked me that in the past 58 years! The answer is that there is the "correct" way and the "Missouri" way. The correct way is with the "eau" at the end having an "o" sound. (Like plateau.) The Missouri way is with the "eau" at the end sounding like "noo." (Like due.) We don't care how you say it because incorrect pronunciation is common here in MO, just like the article describes!

This is what most of us are experiencing right now! It is so much nicer to do it warm and cozy in your log home! These folks are snug inside their Cumberland model from GLH!

Answer to the Trivia Question: The Northern Hemisphere polar vortex frequently, but not always, has centers in two main areas: near Canada's Baffin Island, and over northeast Siberia. There is a Southern Hemispheric version of the polar vortex as well, but it obviously hangs out down south and leaves us alone!

Answer to door swing above: This is a right hand door. When you pull the door toward you, the side of the door where the knob is located is how you determine the swing. (Obviously there are other ways of describing this, but this is the way I have found easiest to remember!)
